Crafting Update

I didn't make my mile this month, but I did a lot of crafting, including a couple of new things that I've really wanted to learn.

First submission - Christmas slippers.

Daddy took both kids to the craft store to buy yarn for me for Christmas.  They chose something they liked, and I knit for them.  The first thing they both chose was slippers.

I also tried doing a cover for my swiffer. I trusted the pattern would fit all swiffers, but it's too small. It is very effective for two reasons:  The kids like to use it, and it's both absorbent and scrubby. So, I'll definitely make more, but I'll measure first.

Finally, I took a Fair Isle class and made this little cuff as a sample. At first it was really tedious, but then I learned to do both colors simultaneously, using Continental style knitting in my left hand and English in my right hand, one color for each. It is awesome and looks very cool!  I'll definitely do more.

There are two more projects, but each deserves its own post.   Watch for them soon!

In search of a new "usual"

"Pizza!" shouts Ace.

"Pizza! Pizza! Pizza Schmizza!"

Almost every day when I pick him up from school, he makes an enthusiastic request. We usually come on Tuesdays before Irish Dance class. He has a long afternoon of driving and waiting while Moolah dances, and he gets to start it with his usual:

2 giant slices of Cheese Schmizza.

"I want 3 slices today," he says every week, which is almost half a pie here.  About 2 1/2 would be perfect for him.

We have a favorite booth, where he watches Looney Tunes without sound.  He usually gets a gumball out of the big machine.  The staff marvels at his appetite.

Today there is a sign on the door. Closing this weekend.

We will miss Schmizza Tuesday.

Math Moment

I was cooking dinner.

Ace was digging in the top kitchen junk drawer.  He was looking for the birthday candles.

He lined them all up and said "That is a number, Mama".

"Yes, that is a big number, it's 41,903."

Moolah came over to see what was going on.

"Moolah, what's the biggest number you can make using those candles."

"Well, what's the biggest number here..." she says, and then about 2 seconds later...

Story Problem because Moolah says "Math is Fun":

Each of these candles has been used more than once.  Since we bought the first one, there has not been a year that none were used.  Whose birthdays have we celebrated?  Which one has been used the most number of times, and how many?

Growth Spurt, Anyone?

Ace ate a full dinner, and a pre-bed snack of three bananas.

Then he slept til 9 am.

Now he is eating a multi-course breakfast.  Eggs, toast, juice, milk, more toast, a muffin...

Maybe he'll grow into his pants so they won't fall down his bottom.... but not likely. Likely he'll require longer pants that fall down even more.
